By burning gas, oil and wood we create a gas called carbon dioxide. This now forms
a cover, like a duvet, around the world’s atmosphere.

This carbon dioxide cover is raising the global temperature and threatens to
destabilise civilisation by acidification of the oceans, drought, fire, floods, storms
and loss of entire eco-systems.

Amongst headline scenarios is that by 2030 over 300 million people will have lost
their homes to rising sea levels, coral reefs will have been lost forever and millions
will face starvation due to crop failure.

The UK is not immune and faces losing coastal communities, drought induced crop
failure and standpipes, flooding and storms that can destroy buildings and endanger
life.
